Audio-Technica ATH-DSR7BT

Redefining wireless audio with a taste for high-fidelity sound, Audio-Technica’s DSR7BT Bluetooth headphones with Pure Digital Drive system reproduces the true sound quality of the music, delivering the original digital signal from source to driver without the need for a DAC that typically degrades sound quality.

In the core of the ATH-DSR7BT resides the exceptional Dnote chipset that receives the digital audio signal from a Bluetooth wireless transmission. It then processes and transfers the signal to the driver where the digital pulses of the chipset move the voice coil and diaphragm forward and backward to create the sound waves heard by the listener.

Working together with the Pure Digital Drive system, Audio-Technica have upgraded their True Motion Driver with a lightweight diaphragm and hard carbon coating allowing frequency response extension to highest fidelity levels of 5Hz and up to 45kHz. With Bobbin-wound voice coil, top-mounted printed circuit board and specially designed diaphragm, the ATH-DSR7BT are able to provide rich, detailed audio reproduction.

The purest wireless sound.

Very good sound - but lack wearing comfort
by zytech on 16/09/2018
When I first bought these about a year ago,
I was most pleased with them. Dynamic, detailed, yet not peaky, shouty, or harsh.
(Incidentally, I have several other headphones and have been at this hobby a good while. A few of the others are Grado PS500e, Shure SRH1540, Sony MDR7520, and Grado RS1i.)

But, after listening for about half an hour, I began to feel uncomfortable pressure at certain points on my head. I have a normal size head, if that information is useful at all.
Just a little while longer, and I had to tear the headphones off. I looked at them closely to see if I could work some kind of "fix" on them, but they're very well made with little or no "give" anywhere.

Next day, I put them on again, of course, listening to more favorite music. And again the compression at several points on my head became unbearable. A true drag, as they sounded remarkably good. The reasonably low price made them even more attractive. But I had to be able to wear them,
of course...
Waited a day, third time was not a charm.
The compression was too much, and I decided I had to return them. Which I did.

BUT...six months (or so) later, I began to think...maybe the pair I'd received was defective somehow in the way they fit...
Hmmmm... And at the time their price was even lower than usual online - so I bought them. A brand new set. Even a different color. And to save some time and energy,
my experience this second time was essentially identical to the first time. Too
f****ng tight! Really a shame, because as noted they did sound very, very good indeed.
(I was using an iBasso DX90 music player with an O2 amp on both occasions.)

Reluctantly, I returned this set as well. No use keeping them if I couldn't wear them.

As a member of the Head-Fi forum, I've followed the discussions about these headphones. Many are perfectly content with the fit, and many others, like myself,
find them too tight. Not even a little bit of
"wiggle room".

My open, unvarnished description regarding
the AT DSR7 closed back headphone. Perhaps some will find it helpful or useful. And, as always with headphone discussion, YMMV.

Cheers,

zytech
