The question I have is about the signature. I find the treble on the Soundmagic HP200 to be too bright (just a little), and the Beyer DT770 Limited Edition to be peaky around 9 khz, and the Shure 940 and 1440 and Senn HD800 and IE800 all too bright. I have to EQ all of those down - from maybe 3 db reduction to 6 db reduction. I find the Philips L1 bass and the vmoda M100 bass and Klipsch Image One and the Logitech 6000 in active mode to be too bassy, and I have to EQ those down by a few db.

So if I had the Marshall Monitor, based on my notes above, do you think I would have to EQ down both the bass and treble with the felts removed? Having the felts in seems like it would be too muffled or treble-shy, like the Phiaton MS400 or Logitech 4000 or Philips M1 or vmoda M80 etc. I'm tempted to order the Monitor, but if I had to EQ both bass and treble (based on the above), then I would have to send it back.

    Dale this might help:

My impression is that though the treble is cleaner and brighter and the bass a tad more aggressive it is not shrill or peaky like some other headphones. It can be a tad sibilant or splashy with cymbal work but I didn't find a need to EQ it - matching with neutral to warm amp might give some added depth since its a 98db headphone.

I ordered the bugger, so we will see. I like that stealth look in black.

Just Audio have done incredible things with tiny boxes. I have been playing with the uHA-120Ds and I'm totally blown away with the quality of the DAC and power of the amp. I'd think there was magic inside but obviously you can open them, so I know Just Audio are simply very clever, as there were no goblins or faeries in the one I've got.:)

It is indeed clever stuff - so much so I sold off some DAC's and now use it instead - Timothy Claypole would be so proud :)
