Hello. I am new to headphones, amplifiers etc. so I decided to ask people who know better then me about these. I own a pair of audio technica ad700x. I am using them on my on-board (alc887) sound card. I do own SB x-fi extremeMusic sound card (I know, old one) but I don't like it for my gaming. For example, I am playing Call of duty 4 game (for years, and I am pretty good at it) and I need "flatter" sound, not bassy one to hear footsteps and other important sound cues. So, I need mids and highs, not bass which masks these.
With onboard sound I have much cleaner sound, not bassy, more accurate, but sometimes I think there could be an improvement on mids and treble side, to hear it more louder (especially treble). So I would like your recomendattion on some good amplifier that keeps my sound flat, but makes them louder. I don't wont bass to be amplified much, just I want more clear and loud sound without loosing any sound direction and precision.
P.S. It is not important for me what kind of amplifier is it (desktop, portable, tube etc.). I just don't need extra bass, but do need extra in mids and highs. My budget is about maximum 100 dollars. I would really appreciate your suggestions and advice. Thanks.

That's a lot of headphone sound knowledge for someone new to headphones.

I got my first decent headphones (ad700x) 3 weeks ago. And I did a little research, so I know basic info about this. I don't have any real knowledge about this, I never owned any amp. Thanks for your answer.

Thanks John, for your suggestions. I just need clarity in check, I am not a basshead. I will try one of FiiO amps. Thanks again.
