I was looking at the Audio Technica ATH-AD500 and the Audio Technica ATH-AD700 headphones.

They seem like very similar headphones and I was wondering if there were any particular differences between the two as the AD500s are slightly cheaper, so I was wondering if that meant they were a lesser performing set of headphones.

Also I presume both can be used with an iPod yes? thanks.

Yes, they are very similar headphones and they have a very similar sound signature. The AD700 is a good step up in performance from the AD500, so in our opinion is worth the extra money. The design of both headphones is good and are comfortable for long listening sessions.

I found the AD900 to be a very detailed headphone, but found the highs a little scratchy. It was just a quick comparison between the AD700 and AD900, and I actually preferred the AD700 of the two!

Pretty much the entire Audio-Technica range are sensitive enough to be driven by an iPod, with low impedance ratings.
