Anyone know the best headphones to get to watch tv which can be controlled independently to the tv whilst still allowing normal volume on the tv for everyone else. I struggle to hear speech well even when the tv is higher than normal so need something with good quality as well as being able to up the volume. Thanks.

    Hi deafnotstupid

It is not a function of the headphones but of the socket on your TV that cuts out the sound when a 3.5mm jack is plugged in to the headphone output. The way to do this is to use another audio output from the TV such as RCA/Phono outputs or a SCART output socket connected through a SCART to RCA/Phono adaptor. Most people prefer wireless headphones for this application as they have several advantages. If you give me and idea of your budget and tell me what other outputs your TV has I can make some suggestions:)

See our TV headphones section for suitable headphones.
