    Hi,

    I'm thinking of getting a headphone amp (maybe a D2) to go with my iPod Video and Denon AH-D1001s.

    Am I likely to notice much of an increase in:
    * Volume
    * Quality

    Cheers,
    Jim

    iBasso D2 with Denon AH-D1001

    The Denon AH-D1001 is already quite a low impedance headphone with decent sensitivity. Do you find the volume lacking with your iPod?

    The way to increase sound quality is to take the signal from the 30 pin dock connector with an iPod line out dock cable. This obviously bypasses the iPod's headphone output socket entirely and also supplies a headphone amp with a proper line level signal.

    The volume is a little quieter than with my other headphones, yes. It's not too bad, but I have to have the volume towards the high end to get a decent volume, and that's in a quiet listening environment.
