    Hello everyone,

I'm new to the world of expensive headphones and DACs etc. Therefore I'd be eternally grateful if you could give me some advice.
I'm looking at buying a set of AKG K550 headphones (at the price of £150), and I figured that I probably need some form of amplification in order to get the best out of them. I'm getting them to replace an extremely old set of Labtech speakers that aren't very good, so they will be used almost entirely at my computer, with music files from said computer. The majority of my music is rock, with a fair amount of electronic/dance as well.

Please could you recommend some DAC-amp combinations that would be suitable, preferably not going to more than £150 (£200 at the very most).

    Thank you in advance,

This Fiio is almost certainly the best quality item that is well within budget -

FiiO E17 Alpen Portable Headphone Amplifier & USB DAC (E-17)

Pretty amazing value for money and great spec and features too, if it had a big European manufacturers name on it they would want at least £200.
