    There are many misconceptions out there regarding digital audio, and these two videos explain it all quite well I think.

    Two things that really impressed me in my original AES membership were 1) Learning that earthquakes are caused by low-frequency sound waves, which are generated by 'faults' that suddenly shift in the Earth's crust, and 2) The Fourier transform of a steady-state frequency response is the impulse response. Apparently, Fourier transforms are used to build certain DSP's these days.
