    Pro-ject s Headphone Amp

Ive just bought the new Pro-ject s headphone amp, at the mo am using it from my ipod 160gb through my apple ipod dock ver the ichord. Because ive sold my amp and cd player as i dont use them any more so will be looking for a set up alittle sep away from cd's

Am just wondering if the sound with be a little wamer when burnt in.
Been running for about 30 hours now, and it still sounds very bright and splashy. not warm and appealing at all. am using it with some senn HD 600

Over a few hundred hours the amp will mellow a little but it will always be similar in character to this. As you already have quite a nice cable you can't really go that route to warming up the sound. Pro-ject s is impressive for the price but it is a cool sounding unit without much organic warmth. If you have a warm but detailed preamp you could try putting this in line.

The Arcam Solo Neo looks like an excellent addition to a set up like yours. Althought the Pro-ject s is a basic headphone amp it is pretty clean and clear, the source could have a really positive effect especially if it has a built in preamp.

I have not actually tried this very interesting device, the other way of going about this is to get a new amp and spend more - this is possibly not an efficient way of doing things as the Arcam Solo Neo does a lot more and is better value for your set up. You could think about getting a DAC amp as part of a set up which would mean any money spent on a new amp would also have other benefits but it sounds like you have some good ideas to me.

Have a look at this in case it works better with what you are thinking -
