    Hi,

I've had my Hifiman EF2A (here's a link to it for reference: HiFiMAN Innovating the art of listening - Products : HiFiMAN EF-2A ) for a couple of years now which I've been using with my Grado SR225i's that I purchased from this site and want to replace the stock Chinese tubes, preferably for something with a little more bass punch and less gain. The problem is, I honestly don't really know a great deal about tubes, their sizes, nomenclature, good brands etc about what will fit and be good. The only relevant information I seem to be able to glean is that the stock tubes are 6J1. I've been googling in vain for a long time and only getting forum results that I don't really comprehend.

So basically I'm wondering if anyone could recommend to me some different tubes (purchasable in UK online) across price ranges, decent manufacturers, with different 'properties' (if that's the right word, in terms of bass etc) and perhaps explain to me a little about the nomenclature and some more audiophile terminology so that I may enlighten myself and train my ears better so I'm not so lost in the future!

I appreciate good sound, I just don't know how to describe it properly!

Any help with this would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Illuminare,

I'd recommend getting in touch with Electromod. They are HifiMAN specialists and should be able to advise you well.
