How do these fare against each other in things like bass/detail?
What are the pros and cons of each?

Edit #1: Also add Shure SE215s, what would you recommend?

Bass is very much important but equally so is detail, I listen to a wide range of music so I need the headphones to be great in all areas. If these aren't right I'd really appreciate suggestions. :)

    Thanks in advance,

This is the hard thing to achieve with the the middle price earphones - The triple drivers are where you find the real balance between strong bottom end and a detailed top end. The lower end Shure models are pretty balanced but they are dynamic drivers and are not quite as detailed as the balanced armature Phonak. I prefer brighter spacious sounds so the Phonak is my choice, stereo imaging is particularly good. The Shure feel a little slower and the stereo feels tighter but this gives them a more solid closer feel that bass fans may enjoy more.

What about the SE315s? Would they be better than the Phonaks?

And what is a BassPort? The SE315s have this, don't know what it is :S

A bass port is like the hole in a sub woofer, porting normally means putting a hole in it to release pressure, the sonic result is usually a more aggressive and clear bass note - a punchier sound. I have had a good look at these and could not see a port or hole, it might refer to the driver which could be ported inside? It is a specific design feature to aid in bass reproduction anyway:D

Thanks for the replies, much appreciated :)

Btw, how come the Shure SE115s have been removed from your site?

Strangely SE115 is now end of life and will be phased out!

They must be working on a revised model, like SE530 to SE535

Current thinking is that it may not be replaced as the SE215 seems to be its replacement. No confirmation of that but it looks likely.

Does that mean there will be a new higher end model? Or that the SE215 may see a price drop?

A Quad driver Shure? I have not heard anything. To be honest, even if I had I would probably not be allowed to say. I suppose there is the chance they have shortened the range permanently.
