Hello,
I just got the SRH840 and really don't like the way they sound with the Voyager headphone amp plugged into my iPod (with an ibasso cb03 line out dock cable). I have the Shure SE530 for on the way, and they sound great with the voyager. But I wanted a full size headphone for at home. I expected to have a similar sound from the SRH840, but it's not the case at all. With contour off on the voyager, the sound is flat, no bass, a lot of trebble. When I switch contour on, it's impossible to listen: too much trebble, good bass but no medium as I have to turn the volume down. Could there be a compatibility issue? Or it simply I don't like the headphones ? Which other headphones would be a better match with the voyager? Thanks for your help! nyberroithur Edit: It's definitely a compatibility issue with the Voyager: I've tested the SRH840 on other systems (PC and a Teac AH-500i amp) and the sound was better. It sounds even better when plugged in straight into the iPod... I really did not expect this. Since I bought the SRH840 to use when moving around the house with my Voyager and iPod, I'm really disappointed... Last edited by nyberroithur; 10-11-2009 at 03:59 PM. |
