I bought some Ultimate Ears Superfi5's from Shaun a while ago. Whilst on holiday, I jumped in the pool and had a swim around for about 30 mins. Then to my horror found my new iPod and UE earphones in my pocket. The iPod was dead obviously, but, the earphones still work flawlessly to this day! How good is that!

haha, no surprise your iPod died on that trip. Electronics won't survive in water for long if you not carefully.
My Triple.fi 10 and probably your Super.fi 5 too having filters that mainly protecting the drives from earwax. I think that primary saved your phones in that, I believe they can block most water out as well from pass through to the drives.
