Hey guys, i have owned £30 headphones for a while and have recently been looking for nice upgrades, such as the Phonak PFE 112 or the Ultimate ears 700. However my music is mostly straight off from itunes and i pay it on my ipod touch 2gen. would expensive headphones bring my music to life? or will they highlight the bad quality of the music?

Hi Christopher
Although not in the highest resolution iTunes downloads are fine with better more detailed headphones. Below the 256kbps that iTunes downloads are in there is easily audiable degradation, at 256 the files can feel a bit woolly with an excellent source and well chosen headphones. I would say that this is more about not hearing the extra detail and texture that someone with lossless files does as opposed to suffering from bad sound as with very low quality mp3 files .
