Hi,
I've been using inner ear headphones at the office and these recently died. I've found them a bit too isolating, and would prefer some closed-back ones. I also want to use them on my commute so want them to be quite compact. I don't want anything massive. Can anyone recommend a some closed headphones that are fairly compact? And would you recommend a headphone amp with them? The source device is an ipod classic. I'll be listening to pop / jazz mostly. So far the ATH-ES55 are looking nice but I don't know much so would be happy for suggestions. |

The Audio-Technica ATH-ES55 is an excellent headphone for portable use. Well balanced sound and very well made.
You may find that the on-ear design of the ES55 becomes a little uncomfortable when using them in the office for extended periods. I'm afraid this will be the case with any on-ear designs. I personally have a pair of in-ears for portable use and some full size closed back cans for the office.
