The iBasso D10 also offers digital audio optical and coax inputs, which provide an alternative way to use the high quality Wolfson DAC in the D10 to gain access to your digital music.

What is a DAC?

A Digital to Analogue Converter takes a pure digital audio feed (via USB or digital audio optical/coaxial cable) and converts it into an analogue signal that can be amplified, for powering headphones or speakers.

Computer soundcards and many other digital audio devices (CD players, DVD players, satellite receivers, etc) have a DAC to convert digital audio to analogue, but in many cases the DAC is very poor quality.  The iBasso D10 includes a high end on-board Wolfson DAC, which offers the best possible sound quality for your digital audio system.
