Shanling M0

Shanling is on a quest to create the ultimate portable audio player and with the newest addition to their lossless portable range, the M0 they are right on track. With Hi-Res audio certification, tiny size and Bluetooth wireless capability the M0 digital audio player represents the pinnacle of portable, high-fidelity listening.

Pushing the limits of technology the Shanling M0 incorporates everything required of a Hi-Res portable player, with the size of a wristwatch. It also has a newly developed side-wheel design that offers precise control with higher durability.

The core of the M0 comprises of a multi-layered Microvia HDI high-density PCB board. Hi-Res Audio Certification
The Shanling M0 audio player is certified by the Japan Audio Association for its high-resolution audio performance. It is the smallest portable player to receive this certification.

Advanced PCB Technology
Inside M0 there is a multi-layered Microvia high-density PCB board. Compared to ordinary PCB boards it provides better electrical performance and helps avoid signal interference in the circuit.

Advanced Wireless Transmission
Using Sony’s LDAC technology enables data transmission three times faster than standard Bluetooth. It also contains Qualcomm’s aptX technology, which provides enhanced sound quality by taking advantage of the convenience of wireless technology without compromising your sound.

Bi-Directional Connection via Bluetooth and USB
Shanling M0 is equipped with bi-directional Bluetooth 4.1, which means you can stream music to Bluetooth speakers and headphones, and also receive signals from your smartphone or other sources.

DAC function
M0 has been designed with a bi-directional USB type C interface, so the Shanling M0 can be used either as an external sound card with a computer or as a digital transport of digital-to-analogue converters (DACs). As a carrier, the Shanling M0 is only compatible with DACs that have a separate power supply.

MTouch OS
Using the new MTouch operating system developed by Shanling, the system is totally focused on music playback, making it free from any redundant software that affects sound playback. The MTouch is quick and easy to use, with just a few finger slides on the screen you can control everything.

    • What's the onboard memory if any?
    • Hi Edgar,

The M0 has no onboard memory, it requires a memory card.

      Thanks,
      Oscar

    • Does LDAC mean that particular feature will only communicate with Sony devices? i.e. wireless headphones etc
    • Hi Philip,

Android Oreo has LDAC built into the firmware allowing the OEM manufacturers to implement it, but headphone wise I think only the Sony headphones support LDAC currently.

      Thanks,
      Oscar

    • Is it easy to load up from iTunes where I have over 100.000 songs?
    • Hi Michael,

Browsing 100,000 songs on a device this small will not be the most ergonomic, hence why there are bigger android based high end players.

However it should be able to handle that library, providing you have a MicroSD big enough. The M0 has no on-board memory, so you just drag and drop the music files onto the MicroSD and then insert it into the M0.

      Thanks,
      Oscar

    • Can Tidal offline files be stored?
    • Hi,

It does not have Tidal built in, you need to stream Tidal over bluetooth from your phone.

      Thanks,

    • Hi, What cable would I need to connect the M0 to a Chord Mojo? I believe the input for the Mojo is USB C. The Mojo also has coaxial and optical inputs but I assume that the M0 does not. Thank you for any advice.
    • Hi,

Shanling make a particular cable to hook their products up to the Mojo, the L2 cable. The M0 can of course be hooked up to the Mojo as a transport.

The Mojo has a micro USB input, the M0 has USB-C.

Good sound
by Ulise on 07/09/2018
The best part of the Shanling m0 is the sound very good but I found a little frustrating with the screen comands sometimes it works perfectly and other time when making a selection especially on the Bluetooth when paring to speakers or a radio with Bluetooth capability it recognise it straight away and you press it to connect it takes several attempts to select it and other times it works straight always I find it very frustrating tried to up date the firmware I was not able to do it so I left it for another day in all the sound is very good let down by a stubborn screen.

Amazing at any price
by Sceptre on 20/06/2018
I was having problems with my DX90 having a balance issue and looked at what was new in the Portable DAP area.
Ai still have a 240Mb iMod with a selection of portable amps but was looking for something convenient and small. Carrying a Hugo isn't always practical.

Oh my god! What an amazing product the M0 is. It arrived set in Chinese language but a quick call to HiFi Headphones hot me back to English language setting.

Simply put, this is a breakthrough product. It's like an iPod Shuffle you always wanted it to be. Great sound, great UI, and fantastic sound.

I used this with my JHAudio Roxanne and IE800's whilst on holiday. I didn't feel I was missing anything that I left at home.

Unbelievable for teh price. Fantastic at any price!

Enjoy
