Free Lolly! :D
My order arrived in about 2 days after I ordered these headphones (on a Sunday too). The free fruity lolly made me smile :)
As other reviews on the web have said for these 'phones, the sound is clear. They've brought out new details in the music I listen to that I've not heard before. I had a pair of Bose Triport in-ears for about 3yrs that stood 18months of backpacking and a pair of £30 Sennheisers that didn't even stand 6months of local bus-travel. I found both pairs satisfactory, although the Bose were much more bass heavy.
These SA1's however, as the other reviews point out, are not for bassheads. Sure, fitting the black "bass" filters do make things a tad more bassy, if you like lots of it, these buds aren't for you. I listen to all sorts and I reckon that they'll be great for classical and the spoken word. They're also great for Trance, but Dubstep is missing the long, low, pronounced depth.
But then, maybe that's the quality of the MP3s I have!
Overall, the SA1s produce, for me, a more clinical, clear sound, I'm enjoying my music a lot more on these, but the bass isn't huge. But you can fiddle with your player's EQ to fix that a bit! And yeah, IMHO, the wood/metal looks great. I'm still really impressed despite the lack of full on bass (hence 4/5 rating)
