STAX SRS-4170 Signature System Description

STAX SRS-4170 Signature Electrostatic Headphone and Vacuum Tube Amplifier System. The STAX SRS-4170 is a high-quality combination system of the signature earspeaker SR-407 and the SRM-006tS driver unit with vacuum tube output stage.

The STAX SRM-006tS is equipped with one XLR and two RCA input terminals and the double-axis 4-gang volume controller can accept fully balanced source signals. Moreover, in order to make the most of full balance circuit, each low-noise FET was carefully measured and thermally combined with each other. This results in the stable operation of the completely direct-coupled DC circuit with no coupling capacitor and brings out the maximum performance of the STAX SR-407 full-balance sound element. The high, low and mid-range of the STAX SRS-4170 system covers all genres from vocal to orchestra and enables you to enjoy music over a long period of time.

The special PC-OCC wide low-capacity parallel cable used for the STAX SR-407 sends signals from the driver unit to the sound element with little loss, enabling clear and distortion-free music reproduction.

• Carefully selected new "super engineered plastics" have been utilised for the sound element which is mounted in a rigid resin case of a tough glass fibre mixture and firmly fixed to the metal base of the housing
• PC-OCC low-capacity special wide cables are employed to reduce the capacity between lines and to suppress signal loss

STAX SRM-006tS Driver Unit Features

• Carefully selected audio-grade components are employed in the main circuit to improve tone quality
• Balanced input via a XLR terminal along with the custom-made double axis 4-gang volume controller enable a full balanced operation from sound input to output
• Class-A all-stage DC amplifier circuit configuration capacitors eliminates coupling throughout the signal path
• High-voltage dual triode 6FQ7 / 6CG7 are utilised in the output stage and the input stage features a simple two-stage amplification using carefully selected low noise FET
• The 3 inputs are equipped with XLR terminals
• One of the RCA input terminals functions as a parallel out providing a direct incoming signal
