Mastering Quality Sound (MQS)
When music is produced in professional studios it is recorded at Lossless Master Quality Sound (MQS) with 24bit/192kHz sample rate. This is far to large a file for a standard CD or MP3 file. For space saving reasons the music needs to be compressed, which results in massive loss of information in the recording. Lossless files at 24bit/192kHz retain all the data of the original recording.
High-Quality Wolfson DAC
The incorporated Wolfson WM8740 digital-to-analogue converter chip is the world's best performing high resolution DAC chip. It delivers extremely low signal to noise ratios as well as extremely low levels of harmonic distortion. Astell & Kern AK100 can also be used as an external DAC via the Optical In/Out function.
