HiFiMAN's hand-crafted EF-5 hybrid headphone amplifier combines solid state and tube design to provide audiophile sound for high performance headphones and critical listeners.
HiFiMAN's EF-5 is a smartly styled glossy black single-input headphone amplifier with outboard power supply. The main unit with translucent top runs a 12AU7 input stage and OPA275 transistor outputs. This hybrid circuit generates up to 15 volts into 32 ohms compatible with wide range of headphones for almost any Hi-Fi application.
Unlike pure valve outputs, the EF-5 runs the valve only for voltage gain. The hybrid combination of valve tone and transistor drive is perfectly tuned to the sonic potential of power-hungry headphones. The result is wide bandwidth with low distortion that make the EF5the clear choice for discriminating music lovers. Bass is one of the EF-5'sgreatest strengths, where it offer a truly delightful combination of extension transient speed and punch.
