Audioengine only uses custom designed and carefully chosen components in the A5+ powered speakers. Custom made Aramid fibre woofers and silk dome tweeters placed in hand-crafted cabinets that are tuned to work in harmony to create a clear, full and powerful sound. For the bass delivery, Audioengine implements powered amplifiers that use a traditional analogue configuration, without any digital signal processing.
In line with Audioengine's high standards, the A5+ powered speakers have been crafted with utmost care and precision. The cabinets, drivers, bass port designs, amplifiers, and crossovers are all painstakingly tuned together making it a highly efficient system that easily outperforms passive speakers with external amplification.

Driver Design
Audioengine uses audiophile-quality silk dome tweeters with neodymium magnets that hold up well under high power and the edge-driven design gives a very smooth response. The woofers are made from strong aramid fibre woven glass composite with rubber surrounds that retains its shape when being driven at high levels.
Epic Speaker Setup
Audioengine A5+ powered speakers are special. Their traditional analogue amplifiers sound incredible compared to lower-cost digital amps found in other mass-produced brands. Audioengine A5+ speakers have been designed, and are hand-built with the goal of exceeding expectations of both value and performance.
Power Amplifiers
The amplifiers in Audioengine speakers are located in the left speaker and are a conservatively rated analogue design. All components are tuned together for each model, which provides a much more efficient system requiring less power than passive speakers and separate amplifiers.
USB Power
Audioengine 5+ includes a 5V, 500mA USB power supply for charging portable devices while listening to your music. The USB connector allows you to charge and power your Smartphone, Tablet, Audioengine wireless adapters or any other USB powered product.
