With daily use of Audeze LCD headphones over the years lends itself to the occasional need for headband replacement. Audeze offers this hand-crafted genuine leather headband replacement for the Audeze LCD series of planar magnetic headphones. Audeze's new spring steel suspension headbands are designed to distribute weight evenly across your head, reducing hotspots and promoting comfort for extended listening sessions.
Please note: The serial number of your LCD headphones is located on the headband. It is advisable to remove the serial number sticker from the old headband and replace it on your new one, or to keep the old headband in case of warranty service on your headphones.
A full instruction sheet and simple tools are included with each headband, to make changing bands as easy as possible. You can download the instructional PDF here.
The original Audeze headband is pretty badly made (LCD-X 2022 model). There are thin strips across the front and back edge which were peeling off mine after 18 months, revealing that they were just glued over a raw cut of two layers of leather.
The HiFi Headphones one is immediately a better construction: no glued piping, just a high quality piece with a complete, rounded edge. I felt the metal all the time with the old headband, but this one is totally comfortable. The strange thing is that it's a tiny bit thinner than the original band, so I don't understand why it feels so much better but it just does.
It might seem like a lot of money to replace one part, but I'd happily say it was worth it.
I got this strap to help with the comfort of my lcd-2c headphones. The metal headband was creating a pressure point on my head causing headaches and general aching after an hour or so listening session. This strap, being shorter than the stock strap, solved this issue completely for me as it raises the metal band away from my head. The clamp force is reduced somewhat which may reduce ear pad seal although I haven't noticed any change that's significant in that regard. It's a definite buy if you notice issues with excessive clamp force or pressure points being created.
