Wanted to try wireless for the convenience it offers whilst travelling. These were well reviewed, available at a bargain price and have proved very worthwhile. I’m finding the whole wireless thing surprisingly liberating but I suffer from lifelong audiophilia, an expensive disease that has cost me dear for two channel kit, a dedicated listening room, headphones with off board dacs , fancy cables and God knows what else. No regrets, but I was a bit apprehensive about the sound quality of such tiny devices as the ZE3000, concerns that have eased after about a month of listening. The overall signature is a shade on the lean side, but beautifully clear and expressive. Some of the midrange is a tad recessed, the lower frequencies don’t punch quite as hard as a few other wired iems I’ve heard or had. BUT, and this is an overriding “but” for me, they are unflustered, neutral, and wonderfully musical. OK, so musicality is hard to define, yet I know it when I hear it, and if you are a discerning listener, so will you. I like to think of it as the deeper connection with music that many of us seek, and you can have this with these little beauties, for very little money. I suspect the limiting factor for all TWS in ears is Bluetooth itself, which comes in various codecs, some said to be of higher quality. I’ve tried none of those, other than the standard one which come with my 3 year old iphone, but even with that these Finals are a satisfying listen. That suggests they should be a little better with hq codecs, DAPs etc. In my ears they are comfortable and a good fit. I strongly recommend using aftermarket tips from Final, or your go to brand if you prefer. The ones supplied are thin, brighten the sound rather too much, and for me didn’t provide a good seal. You will need tips more substantial to resolve the bass end, lessen the peaky treble and allow the music to flow. Get that done and I’m sure you will enjoy them. Bargain!
