Great earphones and great sound

Good value for the money

Having recently bought my first smart phone, I thought it would be a good idea to buy some earphones to enable me to listen to some mp3s I planned to load onto this phone.

My first purchase was to buy a set of wireless earbuds (Sony) recommended by What Hi-Fi?. Not having used earphones of any description for many years, I had no way of knowing if these were ideal for listening to music.

I then read an article suggesting that wired earphones were better at music reproduction. So, for a relatively small sum of money - I am a pensioner - I splashed out on a pair of SoundMAGIC E80Ds. Even to my aged lug holes the same music (mainly 80s and 90s)sounded much better than the more expensive, wireless earbuds.

If I could afford to buy even more expensive earphones, I might notice a further improvement in sound quality and 'imaging' but at my age I'm not prepared to gamble away my money. If you don't mind the wiring, pound-for-pound these wired earphones are good value at around £24. If they get lost, stolen or break, I'm not going to cry all the way to the bank.

Comfortable fit, solid sound.

I've used soundmagic buds before and these E80Ds didn't disappoint.; snug fit into usb-c slot and easy to put into ears - no fuffing around to hook over ear etc. Well balanced sound.

Rarely there is some static sound but overall, great
